On Anxiety and Overthinking Anxiety often disguises itself as problem-solving. If you find yourself replaying conversations, predicting worst-case scenarios, or feeling tension without a clear reason, your nervous system may be stuck in a protective mode. Instead of asking, “How do I stop thinking?” try asking: What is my anxiety trying to protect me from? Is this fear about the present, or something from the past? What would reassurance sound like right now? Anxiety reduces when safety increases — internally and externally.
